Tess Burnett signs with Bloodhound Books

Bloodhounds is delighted to be welcoming Tess Burnett ahead of publishing her novel next year!

Tess spent her childhood in Hertfordshire, moving to Dorset at the age of fifteen. School in her teenage years was a source of horror, the only lessons she truly enjoyed being English literature and language. A succession of unfulfilling jobs in retail, catering and the financial industry followed, but then came the joy of raising her three daughters.

During her time working as a teaching assistant and then as a PA in the local authority, she began to write poems and short stories, and started (but never finished) several disastrous novels. Tess was always full of ideas, but it wasn’t until she moved to Kerry, Ireland in 2015, where she ran an Airbnb in the Macgillycuddy’s Reeks mountains with her husband, that she finally found the time to take her writing seriously, and to find her voice.

Now back in Dorset, Tess won the Dorset Literary Festival’s 2022 local writers’ prize for her novel The Hanging of Hettie Gale. She is inspired by myths and legends, landscape and nature, and enjoys walking, photography and reading anything she can get her hands on.

Tess is active on social media and can be found at the following:
