Christina James

Christina James is the author of the DI Yates series of crime mystery novels. She was born in rural Lincolnshire and grew up in the ancient market town of Spalding. The remote fenland landscape, with its rich soil, deep dykes and peerless sunsets, has always fascinated her and features in all her novels.

She has worked as a library supplier, bookseller and teacher, with several forays into academia. She continues to enjoy a varied career and today runs a consultancy which focuses on providing support for academic publishing projects and academic librarianship.

Educated at the Spalding Parish Church Day School of St Mary and St Nicholas and Spalding High School, Christina studied English Language and Literature at the University of Leeds. Subsequently she gained a Masters in Anglo-Irish Literature and an MBA. She is qualified to teach in higher education.

Christina lives in a small South Yorkshire village in the foothills of the Pennines with her husband and a rescue cat named Ruby, not to mention some thousands of honeybees. She has a grown-up family. She is a voracious reader with eclectic tastes. Her hobbies include making bread and preserves, fell-walking, boating, cycling and visiting France and Germany, where she has friends and relatives, and some very amateur attempts at gardening.

Writing is in Christina’s DNA. She wrote her first ‘novel’ while still at primary school. She began work on the DI Yates series in 2010.
